5 ways to improve a small garden

Having a small garden can be frustrating, particularly for larger families. However, there are things you can do to ease the burden. Addington’s, Northamptonshire’s landscape garden specialist, has some helpful tips to help you make the most of the space available to you.

Use colour
A colourful garden is a sight to behind, especially in the summer months. Whether it’s a burgeoning blush of begonias, or a colourful chorus of chrysanthemums, there’s nothing quite compares to a bold, bright and beautifully laid out garden. Size isn’t an issue here!

Make it cosy
If space is an issue, concentrate on making what you have got into a nice, warm, cosy area in which you can enjoy those long summer evenings. Well placed outdoor furniture and high hedges can provide a safe haven away from the world outside.

Create interest
Why not fill a small space with something unique? Consider using mosaic and water features to add character to your garden.

Use a focal point
If the garden is large enough, a good quality dining table and chairs can provide a central focus point, which marries practicality with style.

Go vertical
No room on the ground? Look up! Wall hangings, trellis and baskets all add interest to your outdoor space, while great results can be had with vintage wall clocks.
